It’s been a while, hi, hello!
A gentle return to work from Maternity Leave. I honestly have so much respect to all the mums/dads/carers/guardians out there navigating the sleep deprivation and returning to work. Your whole world just changes entirely when you have a little person to care for and sort of puts everything into perspective. I’m still trying to soak up as much of this little stage as possible while also finding my feet with work and home life.
While being self employed has its own challenges, I’m very grateful to have the chance to work flexibly around my little one. If anyone has any tips about returning to self employment after parental leave I would so love to hear them! Hopefully I’ll have some of my own in the near future.
I’m very excited to be back working on my feature film script, ‘Till Death Do Us Part’. I’ve actually been working on this for like five years now, it was my masters dissertation, developed on NI Screens New Writer Focus and it’s just been optioned (yay). Each stage of development is always interesting. I think with each round of changes you can see your own life reflected a little in your words. The loss, the love, the fear of the unknown, it’s all in there between the dialogue.
